Westby, Montana is a small farming and ranching community, located in the far northeastern corner of Montana. The oil industry is also a major part of the local economy, with a wide variety of oilfield related services employing people in the area. The town of Westby has an excellent grocery store with one of the finest butchers in the region. Westby also sports the largest grain elevator complex in the area, a bar and grill, café, and hardware store, along with contractors, and other service providers. The Westby School is a K-12 school with low pupil to teacher ratios and very high standardized test scores. Taxes are relatively low for those who choose to settle here and the city offers water, sewer, and garbage pick-up for one low fee. Crime is largely non-existent in the town of Westby, however there are two resident sheriff’s deputies. The town is also home to a volunteer fire department and EMS crew. Air service is available in both Plentywood and Williston, with the nearest major air hub in Billings, Montana. The nearby town of Plentywood offers an excellent clinic and hospital, with the Williston area offering a major medical facility for those in need of specialized care.
